Appearing at American Museum of Natural History and Explorers Club in New York City
by John Huston
John will help launch the new Race to the Pole exhibit at American Museum of Natural History this Saturday afternoon, May 29. Along with his Norwegian colleague Harald Kippenes, I will have the entire Victorinox North Pole 09 expedition kit on display for interactive viewing. In the late spring of 2005 Harald and John traveled together on the 5-man modern Amundsen Team on the Greenland ice cap for 72 days, as part of a History Channel/BBC observational documentary film project titled The Race to the Pole. The expedition re-ran the original 1911 race for the South Pole using exclusively 1911-style clothing, equipment and food. Much of the gear from this expedition will also be on display.

An update from the past 6 months.
Speaking: John had a busy winter of speaking. Notable events included well-attended presentations at The Caterpillar Corporation, Blue Diamond Parts/Ford Power Stroke Diesel Sales meeting, U.S. Equities, appearances for Bergans of Norway and at several schools and community organizations.
We were the keynote speakers at Victorinox Swiss Army's annual national sales meeting and Midwest Mountaineering's annual Outdoor Expo.
On top of his duties as a ski coach, Outward Bound supervisor and father in the past few months Tyler found the time to speak at several Minnesota schools and community organizations.
Guiding: This spring we both made it back to the Arctic Ocean for a bit of guiding in a scientific basecamp just north of Ellesmere Island, Canada. For a few weeks we assisted a group of international scientists in taking seawater and air samples necessary to the affect of increasing PH carbon dioxide levels on sea life. It was fantastic to be on the ice in the warm April sun and unlike last year, a chance to relax from time to time in one of the most beautiful places in the world.
